Why is mobile grooming ideal for Stanford households?
Stanford faculty, staff, researchers and graduate families keep demanding schedules around teaching, labs, clinics and travel. Mobile grooming removes the salon drive and pickup entirely. Our van comes to your campus-area home, your dog is groomed one-on-one, and you can stay focused on your work, grading or family time.
Life on and around campus is busy and often unpredictable. A quarter can bring conferences, grant deadlines and long days at Stanford Hospital. Planning a salon drop-off in the middle of that is rarely realistic. Mobile grooming lets you schedule around your actual calendar, and the appointment arrives at your door.
Campus roads, limited parking and permit zones can make trips off campus annoying. With mobile grooming, you don't need to move your car at all. We bring the full grooming setup to you, so your dog skips the car ride too.
| Mobile grooming | Off-campus salon | |
|---|---|---|
| Parking hassle | We handle it | Move your car and find parking twice |
| Time commitment | Hand off and keep working | Plan around drop-off and pickup |
| Dog stress | Quiet, one-on-one | Busy, noisy environment |

Where do Stanford-area dogs walk, and how does grooming fit in?
Stanford-area dogs enjoy walks around campus, the Arboretum, the paths near Lake Lagunita and the hills near the Stanford Dish. Note that the Dish trail itself doesn't allow dogs, so many owners use nearby paths instead. Dry grass, oak leaves and dust are everywhere in summer, making regular brushing and paw trims important.
Stanford Arboretum and the Oval
Shady eucalyptus and oak groves make the Arboretum a peaceful leash walk. Leaves and seeds stick to fluffy coats, so dogs with long hair benefit from regular full grooming or a bath and brush.
Lake Lagunita area
This seasonal lakebed is dry much of the year and full of grasses. Watch for foxtails after summer walks here.
Bol Park and nearby paths
Just off campus, Bol Park's bike path and open space in Barron Park are favorite stops for local dogs.
How does the Stanford climate affect coat care?
Stanford's foothill setting is hot and dry in summer and cool and damp in winter. Dry months bring foxtails, dust and dry skin; winter brings mud from fields and paths. Keep long coats trimmed in summer, dry your dog well after rainy walks, and book regular grooms to stay ahead of mats.
| Season | Watch for | Grooming tip |
|---|---|---|
| Summer | Foxtails, dust, heat | Shorter trims, paw tidies, ear checks |
| Fall | Shedding, leaves | De-shedding for double coats |
| Winter | Mud and damp coats | Dry thoroughly; regular baths |
| Spring | Pollen, tall grass | Bath and brush; check for ticks after hikes |
What breeds are common around Stanford?
Around Stanford we groom many golden retrievers, Labradors, poodles, goldendoodles, Australian shepherds, beagles, corgis and small rescue mixes. Academic families often choose low-shedding doodles and poodles, which need full grooms every four to six weeks, while goldens, Aussies and corgis benefit from regular de-shedding.
Doodle families can learn more about doodle grooming. New puppy owners, including graduate students welcoming a first dog, may start with puppy grooming.
